See the overview for the CTA Case Sealer in the video below.
The PDI Model CTA Case Sealer neatly folds and tapes RSC (regular slotted carton) boxes shut after filling and features rugged construction in a compact footprint for years of top performance.
All actuators on PDI case sealers are fully electric and don’t require compressed air, which provides smooth, repeatable results. Energy efficient 3-phase motors and DC brushless drives are used to minimize power consumption and provide years of reliable service for your manufacturing operations. The CTA Case Sealer comes standard with a Category 3 dual safety E-Stop circuit and electrically interlocked guard doors. All PDI machines are made in America.
Once a box enters the case sealer, the minor flaps will immediately be folded. The front minor flap is closed using an electric actuator, and the rear minor flap fold electric actuator adjusts for different case lengths. Both front and rear minor flaps are positively folded instead of relying on stationary plows.
The box will then move under the top belts which will gently fold the major flaps and hold them down. The top belts travel at the same speed as the case, eliminating friction between the case and the folding mechanism. As soon as the major flaps begin to fold, the minor flap fold actuators will retract, eliminating an interference point.
While the major flaps are held down, the box will pass under a tape applicator and be taped shut. Tape-monitoring sensors are built into the tape applicator to alert the operator when tape is running low, the tape did not get cut, or the box did not get taped.
The changeover process allows the Case Sealer to easily accommodate different-sized boxes. An electric actuator adjusts the top conveyor up or down, quickly allowing the operator to match the conveyor to the height of different-sized boxes. Top assembly “breathing” is incorporated to tape overfilled boxes where product is above the top score line.
